Drew and Sam are actors. They haven’t won any Academy Awards yet, and neither of them is in line to be the new James Bond (sorry Sam), but between them they do have over half a century’s worth of experience in the industry. Many months ago a combination of boredom, significantly reduced work opportunities (thanks pandemic!) and overactive and under-stimulated imaginations inspired them to create a podcast, and somehow they’re still at it. Join the Drewling Samantics chaps every Sunday (or download and listen later) as they give an entertaining insight into how their industry works - from modelling to voiceover, theatre to film, and television to streamed media, the gents talk about all areas of performance artistry, giving an insider view that is sometimes humorous, often eye-opening or poignant, and at times just downright strange! With regular guest appearances and the odd special ‘on location’ segment, Drewling Samantics brings something unique and fresh to the world of podcasts from two normal blokes, working in a rather abnormal industry.

The Drewling Samantics boys are playing catch up this week, having got together with friend of the pod Phillip Lee a fortnight ago to record an episode in style, and actually getting the chance to work together in person on a immersive job last week, as well as welcoming the brilliant Vittorio Verta to the show, this latest outing finally provides the opportunity for the chaps to look back at the Oscar predictions they made a few episodes ago. Some they got right and some they didn’t, but it definitely sparks an interesting look at how awards ceremonies are presented, received and used.
As with all aspects of life, not everything goes smoothly, especially when it comes to host and winners’ speeches, which can sometimes take an unexpected turn. Personality and politics make an interesting mix, and Drew and Sam open a whole “golden envelope” of opinions and events - both exciting and shocking!
However, one thing is for certain, and that is that each year the awards season is highly anticipated, discussed at length, and immensely enjoyed by audience and performers alike. And, as such, Drew and Sam will continue to enjoy talking about them, as well as keeping their fingers crossed - you never know what the future holds!
