Drewling Samantics
Drew and Sam are actors. They haven’t won any Academy Awards yet, and neither of them is in line to be the new James Bond (sorry Sam), but between them they do have over half a century’s worth of experience in the industry. Many months ago a combination of boredom, significantly reduced work opportunities (thanks pandemic!) and overactive and under-stimulated imaginations inspired them to create a podcast, and somehow they’re still at it. Join the Drewling Samantics chaps every Sunday (or download and listen later) as they give an entertaining insight into how their industry works - from modelling to voiceover, theatre to film, and television to streamed media, the gents talk about all areas of performance artistry, giving an insider view that is sometimes humorous, often eye-opening or poignant, and at times just downright strange! With regular guest appearances and the odd special ‘on location’ segment, Drewling Samantics brings something unique and fresh to the world of podcasts from two normal blokes, working in a rather abnormal industry.

S12E03 - Situations are Changing
Situations are Changing
After a brilliant visitor last week - the wonderful Jonathan Carlton, their first guest of the season no less - Drew and Sam are back in duo mode today, bringing us another content-filled thrill ride of epic podcast proportions! This week’s chat, and of course the inevitable banter, involves something very close to their hearts and indeed their careers.
Following a very welcome and equally rare opportunity to work together on an interactive dinner show recently (something that actually features specifically in this episode via some footage recorded live at the gig) the boys pick over the pros and cons of the genre, how modern comedy is changing, the reception of these style shows, and how the changing of the times means audiences seem to be demanding different theatrical experiences. Streaming services and blockbuster series’ are creating new opportunities for audiences and performers, and that is reflected heavily in how the industry grows, progresses, and adapts.
But is there still room for the intimate dinner shows born out of those much-loved classic situation comedies? Or are they slowly vanishing into fond memory alone? The Drewling Samantics chaps are proud and privileged to have their say on the matter, but equally invite anyone to get involved in the discussion, so tune in now to have a listen and have your say too!
