Drewling Samantics
Drew and Sam are actors. They haven’t won any Academy Awards yet, and neither of them is in line to be the new James Bond (sorry Sam), but between them they do have over half a century’s worth of experience in the industry. Many months ago a combination of boredom, significantly reduced work opportunities (thanks pandemic!) and overactive and under-stimulated imaginations inspired them to create a podcast, and somehow they’re still at it. Join the Drewling Samantics chaps every Sunday (or download and listen later) as they give an entertaining insight into how their industry works - from modelling to voiceover, theatre to film, and television to streamed media, the gents talk about all areas of performance artistry, giving an insider view that is sometimes humorous, often eye-opening or poignant, and at times just downright strange! With regular guest appearances and the odd special ‘on location’ segment, Drewling Samantics brings something unique and fresh to the world of podcasts from two normal blokes, working in a rather abnormal industry.

It’s always good to get things off one’s chest, and in this episode of Drewling Samantics Drew and Sam seize the opportunity to do just that! Regular listeners and viewers will be aware that the boys do, on the odd occasion, have a slight moan to clear the air, and in this week’s show they turn the conversation to the very limited number of elements of the industry they’d really rather dispose of.
Fortunately, not much about the business makes either of our co-hosts hot under the collar, but even though the Drewling Samantics chaps love their jobs as much as they clearly do, there are inevitably still a few bits and pieces they would definitely prefer to do without. Nothing too serious of course, just niggles and gripes that not only Drew and Sam but fellow professionals find frustrating about the wonderful world of performance and entertainment.
There are also some topical news items that can’t be ignored, an important goodbye to be said to a brilliant performer, and even a little bit of politics and policy thrown in too. On a lighter note, the recent Oscars ceremony and in turn the heart-warming stories arising from some of the awards are also addressed in this episode, which, with everything else, creates an altogether spicy mix of positivity, passion and peeves – varied content that’s bound to get many people thinking and talking.
